St. Michael's has retained the identity of its past as a Mercy Convent School.
"A Catholic education seeks to uncover the deepest and truest values of human life".
As a Catholic school we set out to impart a good knowledge of the Catholic Faith to our pupils and to help them to respect our heritage and culture. Also, we aim to nurture a healthy sense of community, respect for the instuitions of state and understanding/tolerance of other cultures, traditions and religious beliefs.
It is our objective to foster a spirit of partnership in all relationships within the school involving chairperson, principal, staff, pupils, parents and the authorities. We aim to create an environment where teachers and pupils achieve a sense of fulfillment as well as encouraging each child to achieve their full academic potential. We work to develop the pupil's creative talents. We encourage a keen involvement in physical education and games in a non-competitive environment.
Not withstanding the above, we are sensitvie to many categories of disadvantage that individual pupils my have, material, physical or emotional. We strive to identify and assist the disadvantaged pupil, drawing an input from the State and Voluntary Agencies, Clergy and individual staff including the Learning Support Teachers, Special Class Teacher and Special needs Assistants.
St. Michael's is a single sex girls school where girls are guided by strong Christian values.
