A Wonderful Christmas After All

Christmas comes every year,

Hosting parties for the cheer.

Rudolph dances in the snow,

In my house I’m asleep.

Santa comes and has a peep,

Eats the cookies and drinks the milk.

Tapping on the roof is all I hear

Monstrous fun we have that day, Oh what a year.

Aprons on for dinner,

My Mum’s food is always a winner.

Christmas: The Frost that Bites
By Meg Burke

In Dublin city,
It’s packed and wild,
And everyone’s too selfish,
To notice the child…

The child sits,
Below the streetlight,
No mother to hide him,
From the frost that bites…

The child is in pain,
He may not last the night,
His toes are being nibbled,
By the frost that bites…

The child’s clothes are ragged,
And he stares up in fright,
When the rain comes along,
With the frost that bites…

It’s Christmas Day now,
The child shows no excite,
As he falls to the ground,
In the frost that bites…

Ten things found in Santa’s living room

Santa snoring in a chair
Mrs. Claus rocking in her rocking chair knitting jumpers for the elves
The warm fire crackling and smoking
The Christmas tree lights glowing
A drink of hot chocolate with marshmallows too
A slice of cake for Santa and you
Santa’s wet boots heating by the fire
The moon outside the window raising higher and higher
The ‘Boots and Christmas Suits’ magazine spread across the table
90,000 Christmas lists from all the children in the world

Christmas Time is Near

O Christmas time is getting near,
I’m very excited indeed,
We have to have everything ready
In time for Christmas Eve

It’s just around the corner
With loads of things to be done,
We still have to get the Christmas tree down,
Which always weighs a tonne!

We don’t even have the turkey,
The trifle or the sprouts,
Even though when I eat them,
I either sulk or pout.

Then we have to go to church
To sing and to pray
With all this commotion going on,
I hope it pays off on Christmas Day!

Santa’s coming

Santa Claus is coming to town
The snow is falling on the ground
The bells are ringing for Christmas day
We all say ‘Hip hip hooray!’
Babies waiting for toys to come
To get something new
To break, to play, to throw away!

10 things found in Santa’s Workshop

4 little nutcrackers standing in a row,
2 small robins playing in the snow,
A grumpy elf on Christmas morn,
Crumbs from Mrs. Claus’ special cookies,
A jar of twinkling fairy dust,
A picture of Mrs. Claus,
The 469253 issue of ‘Elves ‘R’ Us’
A back-up nose for Rudolph,
66 big red suits and
A small sleeping teddybear
