Starch

Test for Starch

  • We examined different types of food for starch.
  • We dropped some iodine on the pieces of food.
  • If the iodine stayed the same colour (yellow/brown) there was no starch present.
  • If the iodine changed to a dark purple colour, there was starch present.
  • All the foods rich in carbohydrates had starch. Foods like rice and potatoes.
